Raw football talents of Kalinga Nagar, the industrial hub of Orissa in Jajpur district found an expression to their physical exuberance thanks to Tata Steel`s venture that witnessed an inter-village tournament at Duburi from February to April, 2010.
Dolphin Club of Duburi won the tournament, edging out Kaibalyagadia 5-4 in the final via sudden death at Duburi, Kalinga Nagar today. Displaying impressive skill and technique, tribal youngsters of both the teams scored a goal each in the regulation time. Penalty shoot out failed to break the stalemate as the teams converted three spot kicks each. In the sudden death, Kaibalyagadia missed the target, while Dolphin Club made no mistake in scoring the decisive goal. Altogether 65 teams from 70 villages participated in the two-month-long tournament. Hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey gave away the trophy at the closing function.
